1st Runners-up at ICDS Mini Hackathon 2023
The Mini Hackathon 2023 was organized by the Stat Circle of University of Colombo in collaboration with Octave as a part of the 2nd International Conference in Data Science in Sri Lanka (ICDS 2023).Â
During the first round, we ranked first in the Kaggle Leaderboard where we solved a prediction problem of confectionary sales in Sri Lanka. In the semi-finals and finals we solved a clustering problem regarding the same confectionary data.
This was our first experience in participating in a Hackathon and it proved to be a wonderful journey with a lot of knowledge being shared.

The Datathon Challenge #2, organized by Women in Data Science Worldwide (WiDS), aimed to promote inclusivity in the field of data science, with a primary focus on encouraging female participation.Â
The competition, hosted on Kaggle, tasked participants with analyzing Gilead’s dataset to explore how climate patterns influence access to healthcare globally.

Public Speaking
Winner of Oration 2024, an intra university competition hosted by Gavel UOC.
My proudest moment during this journey was crafting three different speeches for the three rounds, which is quite unusual for short-span competitions like this. I wanted to showcase my diverse skills in each round, so I invested time in writing three speeches with completely different themes.Â
My speech at the Grand Finale, "The Garden of Three Blossoms," is the one closest to my heart, as I consider it the best speech I have given to date.

VOLUNTEERING/CLUB ACTIVITIES
President of Gavel UOC for the term 22/23
Gavel Club of University of Colombo is an affiliate of Toastmasters International which is aimed at improving English language and public speaking skills across all faculties. I was privileged to be elected as the President of the club for the term 2022/2023 where my team and I organized 2 major speaking competitions for both school and university students. Workshops to improve presentation skills among undergraduates as well as projects to improve writing were conducted during my term. I am proud to say that it was indeed a challenging but a very successful term.

Stat Circle is a club that was formed at University of Colombo aiming to enhance the statistical knowledge of the students and the outside community. I served as the Junior Editor for the term 22/23 and currently serving as Editor where I contribute by writing captions and articles and by managing the editorial team to write blogs for the souvenir.
